Healthy Congregations have Vision!

February 15, 2015 gathering

The point everyone agreed on was that we want to stay together as a church family.  The question now becomes:  How do we accomplish this?

What did we offer in the past that attracted people to COTC?

-          People felt that we were a welcoming congregation that offered warmth and acceptance.

What are some suggestions for inviting people to visit or return to COTC?

-          Improve visibility with a sign that can be seen

-          Ads in newspapers and community newsletters

Personal contact i.e. calling visitors and those who do not attend frequently

What are some ways we might motivate ourselves and also new members/visitors?

Glow sticks handed our during service as symbol of lighting our way to a new beginning

A revival meeting to which community members could be invited

Bible Thought of the Day - 1 Peter 4: 1-6

Forasmuch then as Christ suffered in the flesh, arm ye yourselves also with the same mind; for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; that ye no longer should live the rest of your time in flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God. For the time past may suffice to have wrought the desire of the Gentiles, and to have walked in lasciviousness, lusts, winebibbings, revellings, carousings, and abominable idolatries: wherein they think strange that ye run not with them into the same excess of riot, speaking evil of of: who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the living and the dead. For unto this end was the gospel preached even to the dead, that they might be judged indeed according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.

Welcome Rev. Dr. Jane Young

Bible thought for the day

Psalms 27 9:10

And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee; For thou, Jehovah, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.

Serving Team Delivers Easter Baskets

The Serving Team and COTC delivered 35 Easter baskets to Hoffman Estates McArthur Elem. School on 4/14/14.  Mariano's Grocery helped put the baskets together in the morning, and McArthur school staff organized the baskets for family pick-up before Easter Sunday.
